Somebody told me that the job of an artist is to disappear.
At 21 years old, Kelvin Jones has transitioned from viral star (thanks to his song "Call You Home"), to an artist now working on his second album. Taking influence from his unique cultural heritage, as a British-Zimbabwean he has the type of smooth vocals that ease the mind. For our Autumn/Winter issue 11, 'Imagined Songs', Jess Mahaffey photographed Kelvin at the John Henry Newman Catholic School - his old stomping ground in Stevenage. The intimate feel of the shoot was lead by his peaceful voice that reverberated off the gym walls, and sent a wash of humility across the pages of the magazine.
As he sat down to chat with editor-in-chief Cecilie Harris, Kelvin delved into his creativity to reveal his love of poetry and the internal dialogue of a boy in love. Explore his interview and see the feature in print in Issue 11, which is available to buy both in stores worldwide and online in the BBG Shop.
