5 Minutes With Jonny

14 January 2012

The gorgeous Jonny Alderton (Elite) is currently running around Paris and Milan for Fashion Week castings but we recently caught up with him over the festive season to answer our 5 Minute With interview. Jonny talks about his love of music and shares some advise from non other than Brit-pop legend Jarvis Cocker.

Tell us what you're currently up to and any exciting projects you've got going on?
Currently I'm back in Liverpool enjoying the festive season (the drinking too much and eating too much season to re-phrase) then off to Paris and Milan to enjoy fashion week. Also currently concentrating on getting my new band up and going.

What inspires you and why?
The X Factor inspires me. Do I need a reason? I thought it might be obvious. The raw talent and ability to sing someone else's songs and still be classed with some sort of acknowledgement. Just genius. Fuck Lennon and Strummer, now we have 'Little Mix'. (From looking at Jonny's previous playlist for Elite we detect a hint of sarcasm here Mr Alderton). But in all honesty everything that inspires me in the present is from the past, I'm just waiting for something or someone to come along to change that.

What do you do when you're not working?
Just the usual, chill with friends/girlfriend, drink, eat, party listen to music, play music etc.

Who would be your ultimate brand, designer or photographer to work with?
I would like to work with Burberry. It would also be cool to shoot with Mert and Marcus, their stuff seems to be pretty recognisable and original.

What's the best piece of advise you have ever had?
I've had a fair bit of good advise, but one I remember recently was at Glastonbury 2011 when I saw Pulp play their secret gig on the park stage. Just before they concluded with one of there fairly popular songs Jarvis Cocker said a little speech which went something along the lines of 'if you want something to happen enough, then it actually will happen'. As cheesy as it is, I do think it's true in some way or another.

If you could trade places with any other person for a week, famous or not famous, living or dead, real or fictional, who would you be?
Probably John Lennon.
Thanks Jonny! Incase you missed Jonny's "Closer" preview, make sure you go check it out here!
