New Face: Oliver At Boss Models

7 May 2014

BBG first timer Eliza Maciejewska photographs the charming Oliver at Boss Models in this relaxed and endearing series. In this shoot Eliza was inspired by everything around her; from London collections to the news. The collection of images plays with feminine and masculine stereotypes in the 21st century, and the idea of the ‘made of steel’ ideology surrounding boys. The conception is based on boys and their ability to connect with their emotions, and we see a theme of pink and white to bring in soft elements to mix in with Oliver's masculinity.

Inspiration is also taken from the catwalks of J.W Anderson and Alexander McQueen at London Collections: Men earlier this year, who used elements of bags, heeled shoes and skirts over trousers for their catwalks, adding a feminine touch. Eliza brings this perspective in the form of pink and white by designer Maria Philippou, photographed with a soft touch. The clothes only exaggerate the notion that ‘it's ok, boys can have emotions too’.

The series highlights the inner sensitive side of Oliver, capturing his enchanting hazel eyes against the contrasting hard brickwork and wooden backgrounds, injected with a childlike and naïve serene touch from both Oliver and the styling. The photography by Eliza also brings an understated innocent freshness to the series using natural light, adding to the overall feel.
