James describes himself as kind, generous and soulful. Tom Waitts is his idol. His passions are music, skateboarding and life in general. McDonald's breakfast is his guilty pleasure. If he was stranded on a deserted island and could bring with him three things he would bring his banjo, his guitar and pen and paper (that's four things James…..).
One of James' ways to express his soulfulness is in his band CROWS. We added one of their tracks "King" in our video of James a bit further down the page. Make sure to check it out.
London based CROWS produce a spell binding mix of surf rock shimmer and scuzzy garage-fueled rock and roll. Taking influence from artists such as Dick Dale, The Cramps and Elvis Presely they have been giging around the capitol generating a solid fanbase with their powerful live show.
Their debut double A-side single 'King/Korea' is available as a digital download via Howl Club Records now!
"King" is a narrative take on how his last relationship was ended by a dark despicable third party. James describes how for him the only really helpful outlet he had through out the ugly situation was song writing. He says: "There is no better form of expression to release what I really want to say other than song-writing. It lets me access thoughts that my conscious mind is usually too nice to vocalise. Generally I am a very placid person from day to day because I put so much of myself into (especially live) performance that it releases the frustrations that cause people to be stressed or aggressive. I channel everything that bothers me into my music, which makes for better music and a much more pleasant human being. With CROWS, My guitarist and best friends Steve Goddard will write the music of the song then I will write the vocals. We make a good team, kind of like each others rock."
